Casting enamel productsGo to question list

Food tends to stick to the pan, and burnt food becomes more likely to stick to the pan. Why?

It is possible that the surface of the enamel is under stress. Possible causes of stress on the enamel surface include excessive heat, scorching, dry heating, rapid temperature changes, use of metal tools, use of hard cleaning tools, and use of cleansers or bleach. As a result, the surface of the enamel gets scratched, loses its luster, makes it easier for food to stick to it, and burns tend to stick to it.

How to keep the enamel side of the pot clean?

Please use cooking utensils made of silicone or wood, and be careful not to use them over high heat, sudden temperature changes, or dry cooking. Also, if you use the pot with dirt or burnt marks on it, it may damage the enamel, so you can keep the pot clean by cleaning it early.

The inside of the pot is becoming slightly brownish and I'm concerned. Won't it look as beautiful as it did in the beginning?

If the stain is caused by food, boil water with baking soda in a pot, leave it for a while, and then wash it with a neutral detergent and sponge. If it is very dirty, you can clean it by applying baking soda to kitchen paper. Alternatively, it is effective to use Le Creuset's special cleaner "Potts & Pans Cleaner".
However, stains due to pigmentation (see image) may occur. If the enamel takes on a brownish tinge after being scorched or used over high heat, there are small scratches on the enamel surface, through which dirt particles have entered. In this case, the discolored material cannot be removed. There is no problem in using it, but it does put a lot of stress on the enamel surface, so please be careful when using it in the future.

[Stains due to pigmentation]

The inside of the pot is burnt and won't come off even if I wash it with a sponge. How should I clean it?

If you forcefully remove the burnt residue with a steel scrubber or spatula, it will damage the enamel surface.
Clean using baking soda using the following method.

① The pot is burnt while cooking rice.

② Fill a pot with water, add 2-3 teaspoons of baking soda, cover with a lid, and heat over very low heat.

③After boiling, heat at the same temperature for about 10 minutes. Then, turn off the heat and leave the hot water alone. At that time, remove the lid and let it cool.

④ When the water has cooled and the burnt material has become soft, wash it with a neutral detergent and a soft sponge. At that time, it is more effective to wash without throwing away the hot water containing baking soda.

⑤ Severe burnt spots may not be removed with one cleaning with baking soda, so please repeat steps ② to ④ 2 to 3 times.

Cleaning with hot water containing baking soda]

⑥ After removing the burnt residue, use Le Creuset's exclusive cleaner "Potts & Pans Cleaner" to clean it.

*If you use the enamel while it is burnt, it may damage the enamel, so please clean it off each time.

Dirt has stuck to the bottom of the pot and I can't get it off even after washing...?

If the enamel has lost its luster, there may be scratches on the surface. Because food pigments, scum, and stains get into those gaps, they may not be removed even if you wash them with baking soda or the special cleaner "Potts & Pans Cleaner." There is no problem in using it, but it does put a lot of stress on the enamel surface, so please be careful when using it in the future, such as controlling the heat.

How can I clean the boiling dirt from the outside of the pot?

Wash with a soft sponge dampened with neutral detergent. Alternatively, please use Le Creuset's exclusive cleaner "Potts & Pans Cleaner". Most stains can be removed by rubbing with a soft sponge.

How do I use the special cleaner "Potts & Pans Cleaner"?

Wipe off any moisture from the pot and use it when the pot is dry.
Soak a soft cloth or kitchen paper in Potts & Pans Cleaner and rub the dirty area.
After using Potts & Pans Cleaner, rinse the pot thoroughly with cold or hot water.

*If you use a sponge or wet cloth, or if there is any moisture left, the effectiveness will be reduced by half.

Is it okay to wash it in a dishwasher or dryer?

It is basically possible to use it, but please note the following two points.
①Please put the pot alone in the dishwasher. It may get scratched if it comes into contact with other tableware.
②Please use dishwasher detergent that does not contain abrasives or bleach.
It is also a characteristic of enamel that dirt easily comes off, so we recommend hand washing with a sponge dampened with a neutral detergent.
*Please avoid using stainless steel lids with knobs other than silver (gold, light gold, copper, etc.) in the dishwasher. Discoloration may occur.

After cleaning, can I heat the pot to dry it?

Please never do this as it will cause the enamel to dry and cause damage to the enamel surface. The temperature of a pot with no food inside it will rise rapidly compared to when there is food in it, which is dangerous and can cause injury due to damage to the enamel.

Can I use bleach when it gets dirty?

Bleach will cause the surface of the enamel to lose its luster. Also, if chlorine bleach comes into contact with metal (iron) parts, it will oxidize and cause rust. To clean dirt, please use our special cleaner "Potts & Pans Cleaner" or clean with baking soda.

There is a silver stain on the inside and surface of the pot. What is this?

When using metal tools such as stainless steel ladles or when other metal products touch the pot, silvery metal marks may be left on the pot. These metal marks (dirt) can be removed with our special cleaner "Potts & Pans Cleaner".

[Stain from metal tools]

Rust has appeared on the edge of the pot, but is it harmful to the body?

Since the iron rust comes from casting, it is not harmful to the body.

How should I handle it so it doesn't rust?

If you leave the pot and lid with moisture, the iron may oxidize and rust. After cleaning, do not leave the product wet or store it with moisture remaining. Rust is particularly likely to occur around the edges, so please wipe carefully with a dry cloth to avoid any moisture remaining. Also, when storing food in a pot, be sure to wipe off moisture from the pot and lid after cooking. At that time, placing several layers of kitchen paper or a dry cloth between the lid and the main unit will be effective in preventing rust.
If you do not use it for a long time, please store it in a dry place.

[When storing with a cloth]

If there is rust on the edge of the pot, how should I remove it?

If rust occurs, lightly rub the rusted area with a commercially available rust remover. * Be careful not to rub too much.

Also, if rust flows out and adheres to the enamel surface, please remove it with the special cleaner "Potts & Pans Cleaner" sold by our company.

After that, wash it and wipe it thoroughly with a dry cloth. Also, if you apply cooking oil (e.g. salad oil, olive oil, etc.) to the rusted area, it will form a film that will prevent rust from forming.

I heard that the edge of the pot is protected from rust, but the rust started to appear. Is it a defective product?

The edge of the pot has been treated to prevent rust from forming, but this does not mean that rust will not form at all.If moisture is present, the iron will oxidize and cause the edges of the pot and lid to oxidize. Rust will form on the parts. Be sure to remove any moisture with a dry cloth and let it dry. If rust occurs, remove it with a commercially available rust remover and apply a thin layer of salad oil to prevent rust from forming. Please note that rust is not a defective product.

The enamel has peeled off. What causes peeling and chipping?

Strong firepower, dry firing, scorching, sudden temperature changes, use of metal tools, use of hard cleaning tools such as metal scrubbers, drops and impacts put stress on the enamel, causing small cracks, scratches, peeling, and chips. may occur.

I dropped a pot and it cracked...?

If the cast part has cracks, please do not use it as it may damage the pot and cause injury.

There are small cracks that look like spider webs on the bottom of the pot. Why?

Small cracks are called microcracks and are caused by the difference in expansion rates between casting and enamel. This can occur due to excessive heat, scorching, dry heating, sudden temperature changes, etc. You can continue to use it, but please be careful not to use heat or burn it as this may cause the enamel to peel off.

The knob on the lid broke...?

The knob is sold separately, so please remove the old knob using a flathead screwdriver and replace it with the new knob.
*If you use the knob with it loose, it may put stress on the screw part and cause damage, so please tighten it firmly before use.
*Knobs for the Sensation line and Vegetable line are not sold, but you can use the separately sold knobs for the standard line.
